Post 4: My favorite festivity
Hi everyone! My favorite holiday is the new year of the indigenous peoples of South America, celebrated the third or fourth week of June, this holiday is celebrated because on that date is the winter solstice in the soutern hemisphere, date in which the day begins to be more long. The celebration lasts a week, in which different rites are performed (depending on the indigenous people). In general, in the indigenous peoples of South America the new year is celebrated on this date because te time begins when the day begins to be longer, so the harvest season begins. Mainly the agricultural sense of this holiday, also applies to the spirit that begins to "bloom" in this era. For this date I go to the Mapuche community that is near to my house in Quilpué, where different ceremonies are held to attract good spirits and the night from Saturday to Sunday we stay up all night awake eating sopaipillas and celebrating the new cycle that begins. I like this festivity because since I was a kid I can go and talk with many people, besides I dont like that the day is so short in the fall, I really enjoy summer. This festivity generates much more sense than others, due to the comunity that is generated among different people. Many greetings, ENrique.
